Rigging and Machinery Relocation Completed

R. Baker & Son All Industrial Services, a specialized contractor providing expert heavy rigging and machinery relocation services, completed the relocation of a machine shop for a prestigious university in New Jersey (NJ).

The client selected R. Baker & Son All Industrial Services (R. Baker & Son) due to their impeccable safety record, expertise and professionalism as well as their ability to economically move the equipment under a tight schedule.

The scope of work basically consisted of the moving of various machine shop equipment from one building of the campus to another nearby building.  The equipment that needed to be moved consisted of  one (1) Sheldon Lathe machine, one (1) Do –All machine, two (2) grinders, six (6) file cabinets, one (1) Quincy air compressor and associated air dryer, and several other miscellaneous items.

To move the majority of the equipment, R. Baker & Son utilized a crew of three employees along with pallet jacks and a forklift.  The forklift was a Hyster model with a 5,000 lb lifting capacity.  The machinery was carefully rigged and moved to the other building and then set in their specified locations.

The Quincy air compressor provided R. Baker & Son with a bit of challenge as it was located in the basement and the compressor was wider than the door openings.  R. Baker & Son dismantled the compressor by removing the tank from the rest of the compressor components and then carefully rigged these items out of the basement using skids, cables, rigging equipment and the forklift.  The compressor parts were then brought to the other building and then re-assembled.

The project was completed in two days without incident or injury. All equipment was moved to the nearby building without any damage.
